The theme for international women’s day 2020 is #EachforEqual which reminds everyone that it’s up to each of us to create a gender equal world. Our Co-Founder and Co-Chair of Invest Ottawa Susan Richards had an extremely busy and impactful week of March 2-9, 2020.

That’s why we created an eight day jam-packed schedule of events, story-telling talks, keynote presentations, workshops and networking for everyone to get involved in Womxn’s Week. The initiatives aimed to engage professionals from all sectors to work collaboratively to expedite change.”
THE “F” FACTOR: FUELING WOMXN FOUNDERS
Susan Richards kicked-off International Womxn’s Week in Ottawa by delivering the opening remarks at THE “F” FACTOR: FUELING WOMXN FOUNDERS launch event hosted by Invest Ottawa and L-Spark.
The evening consisted of engaging discussions covering the “F” words that affect business owners and entrepreneurs most. From fundraising to fearlessness, to staying fierce and fighting burnout, the experts shared their experiences and insights. This included stories of “epic fails” and what it means to navigate the indirect path to success.

Kanata North Business Association, Women In Innovation and the University of Ottawa Kanata North Campus, hosted an invite-only event, that was attended by Susan Richards, for leaders across all sectors to engage in dialogue on diversity and inclusion to challenge expedite change.
WOMXN ANGEL INVESTOR BREAKFAST BY THE CAPITAL ANGEL NETWORK & INVEST OTTAWA
Susan Richards, was on hand as Invest Ottawa and the Capital Angel Network announced the launch of a new boot camp and investment opportunity that will fuel the growth and success of womxn founders in Ottawa – designed by womxn investors for womxn founders.
DECONSTRUCTING WELLNESS: A BREAKFAST AND PANEL DISCUSSION
The panel consisting of local female founders, explored wellness through a holistic lens, addressing stereotypes and brokedown the elements involved in maintaining financial, physical and emotional well-being. The panel included Michelle Martin, Lead Engagement Associate, BDO; Ro Nwosu, Owner, Movement Yoga and Fitness Studio; Janet Seto, The Social Architect & Janet Seto Consulting; and Jen Wright, Owner, Whole Therapy Ottawa.
